If you have looked into educational or Montessori-style toys for your child, you have probably come across the Lovevery Play Kit subscription. You may have been curious about the toys or the cost of the subscription. Read my honest review here!

And we’re back with Jaycee Reviews Kid Stuff! We have being paying for the subscription for several months now, so I figured it was about time that I shared my honest, unbiased, and unsponsored opinion about the Play Kits. Are they worth the money? Are they really as parent-friendly as they look? Will your kid actually be interested and entertained by such simple (and battery free) toys?
AN OVERVIEW OF THE PLAY KITS AND SUBSCRIPTION
When you first go to the Lovevery Play Kits page on their website, you are greeted by a short questionnaire that asks for your child’s first name and date of birth. Filling in this information allows the site to recommend the appropriate beginning play kit and to set up your delivery schedule, should you choose to purchase a subscription.
You also have the option to look through the contents of every play kit that Lovevery offers. If you are a friend or relative of the child, you have the option to gift a single play kit to the child or an ongoing subscription.
Once you choose to move forward with a subscription, you are presented with the delivery schedule you will expect based on your child’s age and birth date. You have several options for payment (we choose to pay each time a kit ships to us) and you’re all set. Here’s what to expect in each of the play kits you receive:
- A selection of toys made from organic, sustainable, and natural materials specially selected for your child based on their current interests and developmental stage
- Stickers for Months 1-12 that you can use to take monthly photos of your child
- A guidebook filled with information on your child’s current stage of development and suggestions on how to introduce and play with the included toys to aide in that development
Now, let’s get into some of the pros and cons of these play kits.

PROS
- Brainless for You – hear me out. There is a huge learning curve when it comes to having kids. And as soon as you think you have it figured out, they go ahead and change again. These kits take all of the thinking and the research out of picking toys out for your child. They do all of that work for you and send you a box full of perfectly curated entertainment for your child that just works.
- Amazingly Engaging – I was skeptical when I saw the advertisements for these toys. The shots of the kids playing looking staged. But they honestly are the most engaging toys that we own by far. Calvin is instantly enthralled the moment we open the new box and watching him teach himself how to use each toy convinces me he is an absolute genius. And the books that we have received with some of the kits are Calvin’s #1 favorites that he will dig out of a pile to have me read with him.
- Information Booklet – the little guidebook that comes with each play kit is an absolute gold mine. It is stuffed full of amazing information about your kid, what they are learning, how to help them to grow and develop and learn and get the absolute most out of their toys. And all of the information is backed by cutting edge development research.
- Wide Age Range – this company has play kits that apply to your fresh-out-of-the-womb baby and to your three-year-old. These years are challenging and high-energy, so having engaging toys is oh so helpful. (Once Calvin ages out of the play kits, I plan to look into the Kiwi Co monthly STEAM activity crates!)
- High-Quality Toys – all of the Lovevery toys are made of organic, sustainable, natural materials. This means a lot of wooden toys that hold up really well, no matter how your toddler decides to play with them (they are not dog-proof, however).
- Great Bang for Your Buck – this is both a pro and a con. These kits cost money, but if you were to buy each item separately, you could easily spend twice the money. Not to mention, all of the time you spent tracking down good-quality toys and you don’t have the advantage of the information booklet.

CONS
- Price – this play kit subscription is by far not the cheapest way to purchase toys for your child. It is definitely a luxury purchase to be considered after all of your family’s needs have been met. The play kits are $80 each for the first 6 deliveries (0-12 months) and then the price increases to $120 each kit for the remaining 8 (13-36 months). It is also not necessary to your child’s development to have these toys. If they never see them or anything similar, they will still grow up just fine.
- Exclusivity – something that initially bothered me about these play kits was that they were an all-or-nothing deal. You can’t pick and choose which toys you purchase to cut down your cost or your clutter. If you are interested in one toy from a kit, you have to purchase the entire play kit.
WOULD I RECOMMEND IT?
This is a tricky one. If you have the wiggle room in your budget for a $80 to $120 expense every 2 to 3 months, then I would say YES, I absolutely recommend these play kits.
However, if you are asking if I recommend them enough to make sacrifices in other areas of your life, then I would say probably not. They are not necessary at all, but they are certainly a luxury that I completely love in this season of our lives.

If you are researching the Lovevery play kits and happened to stumble across my review, I hope it was helpful and enjoyable to read. If you have any input on the matter, I would love to hear it in the comments or over on Instagram!

This review was so helpful! The toys and kits look great, and I love hearing confirmation that they are as good as they seem. My family doesn’t currently have room in the budget but it’s an exciting luxury, as you say, to look forward to soon!
