Tres Leches Cake

Today is Colter’s birthday, so I thought I share the recipe for his favorite cake with all of you!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 box Yellow Cake Mix
  • 1 pint Half and Half
  • 1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1 can Evaporated Milk
  • Cool Whip topping
  • Sliced Strawberries

PREPARATION

  1. Prepare yellow cake batter according to directions found on box, but replace the water with half and half.
  2. Bake cake according to box directions in a 9″x13″ pan. There is no need to grease the pan because this cake will be served in the pan that it is baked in.
  3. Remove cake from oven and let sit for 10 minutes.
  4. Poke 1/2″ holes through the cake, 1 1/2″ to 2″ apart (roughly 20-30 holes).
  5. Pour can of sweetened condensed milk, can of evaporated milk, and 1/2 cup of half and half over cake.
  6. Refrigerate overnight,
  7. Prior to serving, top chilled cake with Cool Whip and sliced strawberries.
  8. Served chilled from pan.

This cake is so easy and so delicious, but make sure that you remember to bake it the night before your event (or at least 6-8 hours) so that it has time to chill. You also need to remember that whatever pan you bake the cake in, you will be serving the cake from, so pick a cute one if you’ve got it.
