When we found out we were expecting Della, we knew we would need to upgrade from our trusty jogging stroller to a double stroller. We purchased the Mockingbird Single-to-Double stroller to be just that! This review covers the stroller in the double stroller capacity.
This review has been updated as of June 2025 to reflect my current views on the Mockingbird Single-to-Double 2.0 stroller, which was gifted to me by Mockingbird. Although I received the new stroller with the understanding that I would update this post accordingly, all views and opinions expressed are my own. Staff at Mockingbird did not review or edit my post in any way.

If you were to ask me the number one product advice I would offer to a first-time mom, it would be this: If you plan to have another baby within three years of your first, start with a single-to-double stroller. I wish that someone had given me that advice and pounded it into my head when I was pregnant with Calvin, but alas, we had to purchase a new stroller when we found out we were expecting Della to arrive at the end of 2021. We would have two-under-two, and with the amount of walking we like to do, an upgrade was not negotiable.
We chose to go with the Mockingbird Single-to-Double stroller. I used the original Mockingbird Single-to-Double from the fall of 2021, when we purchased it, to the spring of 2025, when Mockingbird sent me the Mockingbird Single-to-Double 2.0 for a retest and review. This blog post has been updated accordingly.

PROS
- Configurability – there are so many ways to arrange this stroller to make it work best for you and your little ones. For a look at all of the sanctioned configurations, check out this document. I will add from my own experience, the stroller balances and handles better when my older child (the heavier child) is in the upper seat and my baby (the lighter child) in the lower seat.
- One-Handed Fold – one of the main selling points of the stroller, which can be folded with one hand. It can also be folded with neither, one, or both seats attached.
- Newborn Compatibility – with the addition of the rumble seat newborn insert, the car seat adaptor, or the bassinet, this stroller is very newborn friendly. This was so important to me when I originally because my toddler loves to go on walks and was not going to wait six months for the baby to be able to sit in the stroller on their own.
- Simple Seat Tilt – one of my least favorite parts of my previous stroller and of my travel stroller is how jerky the seat behaves when laying it back. These rumble seats lie back so smoothly, and there are many tilt angles to set the seats at.
- Interchangeable Canopies – I just recently discovered this option, but the colored canopies on the stroller (mine are black in these pictures) are interchangeable! You can purchase additional canopies on the Mockingbird website to change up the look of your stroller or even mix and match! The canopies have also been updated to extend even farther, offering your child more breathable shade (even with the seat reclined).
- Maneuverability – this stroller handles like an absolute dream. The wheels are quite sturdy, and I can steer the stroller with only one hand, which I couldn’t really do with my previous stroller. It can also make pretty sharp turns for being a full-sized stroller.
- Huge Storage Basket – this storage basket is huge. It can hold up to 25 lbs of stuff. I’ve taken home groceries, taken packages to the post office, and carried a whole picnic to the park in the storage basket and never run out of room. It’s awesome.
- Customizable Delivery Dates – when placing your stroller order with Mockingbird, you have the option to schedule the delivery of your stroller to coincide with the delivery of your baby. For example, when I was preparing to have Della, I ordered our Second Seat Kit when I was about 3 months pregnant, but had it delivered about 3 weeks before her due date. This worked well for me as I knew the stroller was taken care of, but I was able to put it out of my mind until much closer to the birth of my baby. Strollers are sold directly from Mockingbird, as well as Target and Babylist, with immediate shipping!
- No-Rethread Harness – in the updates to the stroller, Mockingbird changed the design of the harness straps, allowing for much easier adjustment of the height of the shoulder straps that doesn’t require you to unhook and rethread the harness.
- 30-day Trial and Lifetime Warranty – Mockingbird stands behind their products and wants you to be truly happy with your purchase.

CONS
- Child Placement Limits – while there are many, many configurations for this stroller, there are a couple of limitations. This stroller is not compatible with two Bassinets at the same time. There are also specific seat arrangements that are safe while pushing a toddler and an infant. I highly recommend looking at the seating arrangements sheet and following it.
- Adaptor Needed for Infant Use – this stroller is not newborn-friendly right out of the box. In order to use it with a new baby, you will need to purchase either a car seat adaptor, a newborn insert for the rumble seat, or a bassinet for your baby. This is an easy purchase to make, but I would prefer if the stroller automatically came with the newborn insert, so an additional piece wouldn’t be needed for a newborn or young baby.
- Large Folded Size – this stroller is not a compact travel stroller. It takes up a significant amount of space in my vehicle when I bring it with me. It isn’t the largest stroller on the market, and it can be made to fit in most car trunks, but the size is something to take into consideration.
- Five-Point Harness Changes – if you read my original review of this stroller, you may have noticed that I listed the five-point harness as a pro for the original stroller, but I haven’t for the 2.0 version. This is due to the complete redesign of the harness buckle system on the 2.0 stroller. I strongly dislike it. You can no longer attach or detach the shoulder straps without unbuckling the entire harness, and the buckle mechanism feels much less sturdy, with many more thin pieces of plastic that could break or warp. While I do enjoy the no-thread harness, I really wish that they had left the buckle mechanism of the harness alone. It was wonderful in the original stroller and possibly my least favorite feature of the updated version.

DO I RECOMMEND IT?
I absolutely recommend this stroller to you, my reader, and to everyone who asks me about it. The function, the versatility, and the price point can’t be beat in my opinion. These days, I often utilize the Mockingbird Riding Board as well to accommodate all three of my children. They love it and so do I!
