Mountain Buggy Pod Clip-On Highchair Review

I’m giving my honest review of the Mountain Buggy Pod highchair. Why did we choose this high chair? How does it work for us? Would I recommend it for daily or travel use?

Hello, and welcome to another installment of Jaycee Reviews Kid Stuff. If you’ve been looking for a compact or travel high chair, I’m here to give you my opinion on the Mountain Buggy Pod.

AN OVERVIEW OF THE POD

So what is the Mountain Buggy Pod and why on earth would you buy it?

The Pod is technically a travel high chair. It doesn’t have legs or a structured seat, but instead, clips directly to whatever table you’re sitting at using two C-clamps. Your infant effectively sits at the table with you. Some features of the Pod include:

  • a deep seat
  • wipable material
  • two C-clamp fasteners
  • a security strap with buckle fastener
  • compact fold
  • carrying bag

You can shop the Mountain Buggy Pod Clip-On Highchair here.

PROS

  • Compact Size – this high chairs folds down so small that I could possibly fit it into my diaper bag if I needed to. It would definitely slide easily into a carry-on suitcase for a vacation. It also has a simple carrying sleeve, making it easy to carrying around with you if needed!
  • Perfect for Any Height Table – due to the fact that this chair clips directly to the eating surface, I never have to worry if a table is going to be too tall or too short for my kid to eat at.
  • Easy to Wipe Down – the nylon material that this chair is made of makes it easy to wipe messes off after Calvin has had a sloppy meal. It also dries quickly after being wiped down with a damp washcloth.
  • Easy to Invert to Remove Crumbs – Cal often drops food and crumbs into the bucket seat while he is eating, but it’s super simple to invert the chair and brush it out after a meal. No crumbs getting caught in the nooks and crannies.

CONS

  • Clamp Size – if the edge of the table is thicker than about 2 inches, the chair will not clip on. I’ve only come across two or three tables where this was an issue, but it does render the chair pretty useless.
  • Difficult to Deep Clean – though this chair is easy to spot clean, and even though the cover comes off (I think), doing a deep clean is pretty difficult.

DO I RECOMMEND IT?

If you are looking for a travel high chair or something that will work with your bar height counter, then I absolutely recommend this high chair! The price point is perfect for a simple chair like this, we have been able to take it on every trip with us, and it’s been a lifesaver in restaurants that don’t have highchairs!

Even if this is just another item that you add to your “back up baby stuff” in the trunk of your car, I think this chair is a worthy addition!

  1. This is a must have in my book, it is much simpler to use one of these at a restaurant. The only con in that situation is having to bring it your self, but having Calvin clipped into the corner seat of a booth, or over a chair is much easier then having him be an extension off the end of the table on a old wooden high chair. 10/10 would recommend 🙂
